LOCATION: Heim Elementary School

EFFECTIVE: August 26, 2025 - June 26, 2026 (Annual appointment)

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction that adheres to research-based literacy practices and standards using a variety of teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs and styles of students

Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 literacy intervention services for students

Utilize data and assessments to determine and provide literacy supports for students

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners

Engage in professional learning opportunities

Create a positive, inclusive, learning environment where all students feel supported

Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and evidence-based literacy interventions

Communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators, and colleagues regarding student progress

ESSENTIAL CORE CHARACTERISTICS:

NYS Certification in Literacy with Elementary B-6 preferred

Experience teaching elementary, preferably grades K-4

Knowledge, skill, and confidence with NYS Next Generation ELA Learning Standards

Ability to implement highly effective curriculum, teaching, and assessment programs

Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with all stakeholders

Demonstrated ability to motivate and instruct students

Understanding of how to appropriately place students for intervention

Demonstrated experience effectively using technology

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

A commitment to professional development and continuous learning

PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:

Successful teaching experience in the area of literacy

Evidence of student growth

A demonstrated record of professional learning

Prior professional learning in evidence-based literacy strategies and knowledge of Science of Reading research

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

SALARY: Reading Teacher: $23,600-$26,850 annually

Teaching Assistant: $18,172 - $20,674.50 annually

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

Internal: District employees (Probationary and tenured teachers requesting a transfer within their current tenure area, Teaching Assistants who are currently fully certified in the appropriate tenure area) may apply by submitting a letter of interest to Human Resources with a copy to the building principal. The original signed letters of interest must be submitted by the end of the day on August 20, 2025.

External: All others (including part-time teachers, teachers applying outside of their current tenure area, regular subs, and per diem subs) should fill out an online application at Williamsville.SchoolSpring.com and then apply to appropriate posting.
