The Position
Classes in this series serve as line department personnel function officers. Incumbents in this series plan, organize and administer a comprehensive personnel services program including employee relations, selection, classification coordination, position control, evaluation, training, payroll and other related areas. Personnel Officers supervise the work of other personnel staff.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Division of Human Resource Management (DHRM), within the Department of Administration, is hiring a Human Resource (HR) Officer 2 to support and serve as a backup to the HR Officer 3 within the Agency Human Resource Services (AHRS) Division. This position will be located in either Carson City or Las Vegas. AHRS operates out of two offices, Carson City and Las Vegas, and provides comprehensive HR services to 51 State agencies and divisions. This position plays a key leadership role in guiding strategic planning and operational execution to advance the goals of DHRM and its client agencies, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service. As a member of the statewide leadership team, the HR Officer 2 helps oversee 12-15 HR professionals who support approximately 2,600 employees across Nevada. Reporting directly to the HR Officer 3, the HR Officer 2 is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing human resource functions for a designated group of agencies. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in personnel management, business, public administration or related area and four years of progressively responsible professional personnel management experience, including one year of personnel program management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
