Responsibilities Operates a computer workstation to receive and convert customer data (text and graphics) into formats suitable for production runs on an electronic duplicating system. Sets up and operates large, high-speed electrostatic copier/duplicators consisting of an electronic control center and online automatically controlled stapler and sorter to reproduce multiple copies of; Forms, notices, instruction manuals and textbooks, circular, pamphlets and other similar @types of materials. Operates bindery machines such as guillotine cutters, paper drills, and various other binding equipment and shrink-wrap machine. Utilizes network software to capture and/or merge data/information originated with a wide variety of word processing, graphics, and desktop publishing software packages. Provides on-the-job guidance and/or written procedures to lower-graded operators. Maintains records of work completed, ensures production units are recorded for billing, and notifies supervisor/lead/CRS of job completion. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for a Electronic Duplicating System Technician, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Utilizing Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF software in a production environment. Operating various equipment to complete jobs on-time and within specifications. Performing minor repairs and makes minor adjustments to equipment. Working with customers to achieve desired results. B. Education Substitution: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-05 for most position covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. Education must be from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education. See http://ope.ed.gov/accrediation/search.apx. Physical Demands: The work requires long periods of standing, bending, and walking during equipment setup, adjustment, operation, and maintenance. Work requires operator to lift light to moderately heavy objects such as boxes of paper of less than 50 pounds and other equipment supplies. Work Environment: Work is performed in a documentation automation/production environment where other printing-related operations are being performed. The immediate work area is adequately lighted. Moderate risks and discomforts occur from paper dust, paper cuts, machine noise, dry ink, glue, etc. Extra safety precautions are required when cleaning jams from the finishing unit and fuser to avoid burns from extremely hot surfaces.
