JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Penn State York invites applications for a teaching-line faculty position, Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor in Mechanical Engineering Technology; non-tenure line appointment, 36 weeks to begin August 2025. This is a one-year appointment with possibility of renewal.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach undergraduate courses that support ABET-accredited programs in mechanical engineering technology (two-year MET), in electro-mechanical engineering technology (four-year EMET), and 2+2 mechanical engineering courses. The successful applicant is expected to participate in course, curriculum, and program development; advise students; provide career guidance; participate in campus, University, and community service activities; and engage in activities to stay current in one's discipline. Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment is expected. Interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must hold a Master's degree or a Ph.D. with three-four years of industry experience. The candidate should be capable of teaching courses in statics, strength of materials, dynamics, and related courses. In addition, the successful candidate will teach lower- and upper-division courses in their specialty that support the MET, EMET, and 2+2 engineering majors. Experience in mechanical laboratory settings is highly desirable.

Penn State York is one of more than twenty Penn State campuses statewide. It is a student-centered campus of approximately 700 students; about 10% are adult learners. The coursework for the first two years of more than 275 Penn State baccalaureate majors is offered, as well as twelve baccalaureate degrees and five associate degrees which may be completed on our campus. Penn State York is located in southcentral Pennsylvania, approximately two hours from Washington, DC or Philadelphia. The campus rests on 51 acres, overlooking the historic city of York. Students and faculty at Penn State York have all of the resources of a major research university at their disposal, but in a small college atmosphere. Class sizes are small and the student/faculty ratio is low, so students can receive much individual attention. Our faculty members are committed to providing a high-quality educational experience to their students and are actively engaged in research. Our students receive a world-class education delivered in a small campus setting and have many opportunities to participate in undergraduate research projects supervised by faculty members.
