Summary You will serve as a MECHANICAL ENGINEER in the Manufacturing Engineering Division (Code 1420), Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC)(Code 1400), Located in Philadelphia, PA, a detachment of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will provide engineering direction such as preparation, review and approval of Technical Work Documents and administrative documents in support of propulsor measurement process and procedures. You will instruct engineers and technicians in specific tasks and job techniques, ensuring hte quality of engineering work generated by lower grade technical staff. You will ensure that measurement process complies with all the customer inspection point requirements and all associated certification documentation is complete prior to shipment. You will maintain a close working relationship with production personnel and resolve technical problems identified during the production phase Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying advanced theories, concepts, and principles in mechanical engineering. Experience directing, controlling, monitoring, interpreting, and seeking resolution on all matters pertaining to the effective conduct of production and engineering practices. Experience applying expert professional knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, principles, practices and techniques related to the highly specialized field of machining, measurement and certification of propulsor castings and fabrications. Experience interpreting and evaluating engineering drawings/specifications/technical data packages. Experience executing and understanding results of all hydro and non-hydro analyses programs and reports generated by third party suppliers supporting NFPC. Experience generating macro driven analyses and reporting programs with respect to point cloud closest-point-of-approach comparisons to CAD model surfaces. Experience implementing expert understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances. Experience using large scale measurement applications, measuring components and building complex assemblies. Experience generating certification data for machined components and complex assemblies Experience leading a team with respect to the generation of certification data Experience working directly with NFPC Customers and vendors including but not limited to NAVSEA, Electric Boat, PTI, Propulsor Tech Warrant Holders, Carderock and associated First Tier Suppliers.
