Responsibilities This is a Information Technology Specialist (SYSADMIN/APPSW) position location in Enterprise Support, Information Technology, Technology Solutions Division, Vetting & Credentialing Systems Branch, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS).Duties include but are not limited to: Participates in software development project planning to ensure operational awareness of pending application design and functionality changes and analyzes the impact to operations and maintenance. Performs secure programming and identifies potential flaws in codes to mitigate vulnerabilities. Makes optimal use of resources under limited supervision to complete activities within established schedules. Addresses security implications in the software acceptance phase including completion criteria, risk acceptance and documentation, common criteria, and methods of independent testing. Captures security controls used during the requirements phase to integrate security within the process, to identify key security objectives, and to maximize software security while minimizing disruption to plans and schedules. Communicates complex technical requirements effectively with executives from the private sector and U.S. Government officials from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), TSA, and other Federal, state, and local agencies. Coordinates significant technical matters with representatives of external organizations. Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments but allow considerable discretion to select the most appropriate approach or to recommend new approaches. Drives ongoing technical support services for the Transportation Security Agency (TSA) application program including integration design and integration of complex IT Systems and infrastructure. Plans and schedules the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, systems configuration, and applications software. Evaluates and recommends adoption of new or enhanced approaches to delivering IT services and prepares proposals for the acquisition of IT products. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.
