Job Title: Accessioner

Job Description

The accessioner will play a vital role in supporting a new local site for the main lab located in Denver, CO. As a processor, the primary responsibilities include sorting specimens, entering patient requisitions, labeling specimens, and packaging them for transport to the main lab. The team is actively involved in pre-analytical and post-analytical processes of testing, providing an excellent opportunity for those looking to advance their lab careers.

Responsibilities

Open specimens and pour off secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing.

Verify all samples arrived, inspect for any damage, dispose of packaging, and move samples for entry.

Operate multiple computer software systems and apply the correct software to different samples.

Ensure names on samples match requisitions.

Handle various samples including urine, blood, serum, plasma, body fluid, and unknown substances.

After entering into systems, create labels and label samples.

Essential Skills

High School Diploma (Bachelor's degree or Technical degree is nice to have).

Intermediate computer, typing, and 10-key skills.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Desire to advance within the lab.

Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment to meet established turnaround times.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in multitasking.

Background in science, banking, serving, or customer service is beneficial.

Understanding of documentation and sample preparation.

Quality control and material handling knowledge.

Work Environment

The team consists of 10 people on the 2nd shift, creating a collaborative and supportive environment. The position offers career growth opportunities without requiring previous lab experience, and tuition reimbursement for qualifying degrees through a partnership with Arizona State University, with online classes available.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.80 - $19.80/hr.
