The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Montana State Hospital. The Montana State Hospital (MSH) provides inpatient psychiatric treatment to people committed involuntarily under either civil or criminal procedures from communities across the state. Admission and discharge process are governed by Montana law and State regulations. This position serves as the Administrator for MSH and is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the campus to include quality of care, staff development, financial performance, business development, and continuous performance improvement. This position will be an innovative and visionary leader who has personality, self-awareness, commitment to diversity, and ability to communicate with people from various social and economic backgrounds in a clear, concise and confident manner. They will be responsible for staff and facilities, overseeing the ongoing administration of medical, nursing, quality improvement, business and support services, local human resources processes, and health information management services and operations. The position also performs a variety of other duties as necessary to advance the goals and objectives of the hospital and the department. Qualifications for this Career Opportunity Knowledge of psychiatric hospital administration and recruitment, as well as federal and state regulations. Knowledge of national and state certification, accreditation, regulatory standards and licensure for mental health facilities and hospitals. Knowledge of contract administration, quality control practices and public relations. Knowledge of forensic security protocol. Skilled in excellent written and verbal communication, including public speaking. Meet minimum qualifications: o Formal residency training as a psychiatrist yielding demonstrated competence in related treatment. o Must be currently licensed to practice in the State of Montana. Board certification in Psychiatry is required. o Five years of professional experience in hospital or facility administration. o Five years of supervisory experience in managing professional staff. o Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
