Port Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team! This position will be responsible for researching, recommending, installing, supporting, and maintaining computer software and hardware for Security IT related systems including the Vessel Traffic Information System, Access Control System, Video Management System, PD unit in-car A/V systems; while providing support to the IT Operations Supervisor, Information Technology.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots various Security IT systems, including access control, Video Management System (VMS), PD in-car A/V and peripherals
Ensures all Security IT systems, including access control, cameras, recording devices, and software, are functioning correctly
Maintains access control hardware and software, manage user accounts, and ensure the proper functioning of hardware like card readers and biometric scanners
Documents and maintains accurate records of access control permissions, system configurations, and security incidents
Coordinates preventative maintenance on the Security IT system hardware/software and servers
Diagnoses and resolves technical issues with Security IT systems, including hardware and software problems
Provides training and support to general staff on the proper use of related IT security systems
Maintains control of all Security IT system inventory and warranties
Implements and maintains storage systems, ensuring data availability and integrity, and developing and executing backup and recovery plans for Security IT systems
Assists IT Operations Supervisor with the best financial options for future warranties and maintenance contracts
Reviews the software/hardware capabilities of the current Security IT systems and make recommendations for additional options or new technologies
Designs technical documentation of Security IT systems and best practices to follow, as documented in the IT knowledge base
Reviews and study current industry standards, future technologies, and security-related issues as they pertain to Security IT systems
Provides documentation or information as requested from upper management in the form of FOIAs or requested video and/or audio clips following the Port Corpus Christi policy Chain of Custody procedures and testify in a court of law the nature of the documentations source
Prepares reports and evidence for investigations, audits, or legal proceedings
Maintains records, documentation, and information as needed or required by Coast Guard, on-Port military personnel, City of Corpus Christi EOC and Port Police Department
Responsible for control of simultaneous multiple projects
Assists Director Information Technology in creating the capital and expense budget as it pertains to Security IT systems
Adheres to PCCA policy and maintain good employee relations
Drives vehicle as necessary to complete assigned tasks and works required hours/shifts necessary to fulfill objectives
Performs related duties as assigned
CPR certified or the ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
Tier (1) status designation
CANDIDATE PROFILE
The preferred candidate for this position should be a self-starter capable of independent work and creative teamwork; should be an organized, thorough, and disciplined individual with a focus on maintaining optimal integrity in support of the PCCA. They must possess the following:
EDUCATION and CREDENTIALS
High school diploma or equivalent required
Bachelors degree or a minimum two-year formal education from an accreditedcollege or university preferred
AMAG Symmetry certification required within first year of employment
Security+ certification preferred
Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment
Good driving record with valid drivers license
EXPERIENCE and JOB KNOWLEDGE
Five years previous experience with wide area networks and local area networks, wireless communications, VPN, Cisco switches/firewalls/routers, PC software applications, Access databases, SQL databases, Windows, Microsoft Office, Windows server systems, remote client access utilities, knowledge base software and help desk software
Must understand the basic functions of video systems, microwave communications, radio communications, radar systems, and automatic identification systems
Proven experience with SQL database systems, Access, HTML, and XLM
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written
Proficiency in MSOffice, including Word and Excel, Outlook and other related applications
Ability to understand, interpret, and apply all PCCA policies, promotes and adheres to the SEAPORT values, state/federal laws
Maintains good employee relations and encourages and fosters a helpful environment where teamwork prevails. Assists senior management and office staff where appropriate
