Job Summary:
The Director of Finance will be responsible for leading the Agency's accounting, payroll, accounts payable, internal and external financial reporting and analysis of information for key stakeholders including management, board of directors, banks, and regulators. This includes utilizing business intelligence to gather and trend for new and existing programs, budgets, and key metrics while partnering with Agency staff in the oversight of these activities. This position will ensure the Agency has the systems and procedures in place to comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), non-profit regulations, support effective program implementation, and manage internal and external audits. The Director of Finance will work closely with the CFO, Program and Department leaders and their staff to educate in finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how the finance function can support program operations.
Essential Job Duties:
Direct leadership and supervision to the Accounts Payable, Accounting, and Payroll teams to mentor, develop and build an effective dynamic accounting team, managing work distribution, training, problem resolution, and performance evaluation.
Directs all accounts, ledgers, reporting systems, and financial reports ensuring implementation of effective financial best practices and their application ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
Directs the reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical review of agency financial information.
Works closely with Program and Department staff and Funding Agencies to ensure the timely and accurate recording of all Agency financial information.
Evaluate, assess and enhance Agency financial performance and workflows
Oversight of monthly and annual close process, asset management, payroll, and ensure all accounting data is properly recorded and reconciled.
Assists in educating staff of accounting and finance information such as budgets, variance analysis, payroll information, allocations, and cost report data.
Responsible for general ledger systems and recommends software changes or enhancements depending upon the needs of the Agency. Utilizes IT expertise with various software systems and technical background to drive financial reporting enhancements.
Participate in industry workgroups, understanding best practices and regulation updates.
Participates as a key member on the Leadership Team to develop and maintain a strategic plan for the controlled growth, expansion, and/or development of programs and sites for OLV Human Services in all Management Team Meetings.
Responsible for developing and monitoring the Agency's cash flow to meet operating needs
Develops, analyzes, interprets, recommends and executes financial or process modifications that support the Agency's strategic plans in consultation with the CFO.
Coordinate the external or internal agency audit activities, ensure data completion for audited financial statements and preparation of Form 990, completion of audit responses, and assist in preparation and review of cost reports.
Maintain, develop and implement departmental policies and procedures
Performs all duties and services in full compliance with the expectations of OLV Human Services.

Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team.
Strong knowledge of multi-funded, non-profit organizational structure, laws and governing regulations including, but not limited to Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR), Reimbursable Cost Manual, or other not-for-profit program cost reports.
Understanding of theory and practices of accounting and auditing.
Intermediate skill level in Microsoft 365, Accounting Software Systems, and Human Resources Information Systems
Ability to work effectively with outside auditors and governmental agencies.
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with 6+ years' experience, management experience a must.
OR
Master's degree in accounting or related field with 2+ years' experience, management experience a must.
License/Registration/ Certifications Required:
Valid NYS Driver's License
CPA preferred.
