Job Descriptions:
The Director of Sales and Marketing provides day-to-day leadership and direction to Sales & Marketing Team by maximizing financial returns, driving development of the team, creating and maintaining a unique guest experience, executing on brand standards as well as building awareness of hotel property and over-all brand in the local community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Partners with General Managers, and corporate marketing team to develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for the sales division aligning with company objectives in order to meet and exceed established individual and team sales booking goals.
Directs and supports digital marketing efforts and programs for the hotel, restaurant, and bar in partnership with corporate Director of Marketing with a goal to drive revenue and sales growth.
Generates maximum revenue by effectively managing sales budgets, expenses, flow-through and recovery
Actively participates in the hotel's budgeting process and understands how sales & marketing strategies and activities impact the top and bottom-line of the hotel; Uses this information and strategizes with the Sales Team
Creates and implements plans to prospect, market, and attract the best possible business mix for the hotel
Ensures sales and marketing processes generate maximum profit for the hotel
Analyzes the most recent hotel Profit and Loss Statement (P&L) and motivates the Sales team to execute action steps to meet or exceed budgeted numbers are met in all segments
Involves Food & Beverage team as well as Front Office Sales & Marketing departments in cross-selling; coaches the team to partner and refer business to one another to increase total revenue in the hotel
Executes tactical sales & marketing activities according to business demands
Collaborates with the Front Office Managers/Supervisors to develop up-selling programs for the hotel; this may include prospecting efforts with respective brand's Reservations/Call Centers
Demonstrates knowledge of key features and benefits of the brand and considers why those benefits would be valuable to clients, resulting in increased brand loyalty
Champions, promotes, and increases awareness of the brand
Acts as a key business partner, not a supplier to key accounts. Talks with key accounts about their business challenges. Listens and partners to find ways your hotel or brand can solve clients' business challenges. Helps clients be creative in imagining the possibilities of their piece of business at your respective property
Continually expands expertise of the market and explores ways to differentiate your brand in the market
Finds opportunities for self and team to have a presence in the market place in representing your hotel as well as your brand. Looks at memberships in industry organizations, associations, board positions, and any possible networking activities, and any other opportunities to showcase your respective property
Chooses organizations to join and lead as your brand representative, where you will add value and impact for the hotel
Reviews the hotel's overall sales & marketing plan as well as the hotel annual budget with the GM to understand the thought, analysis and subsequent planning that went into formulating the strategies
Directs sales & marketing activities; sets individual and team goals and measures progress
Reviews production reports and other sales metrics to consistently evaluate potential revenue and overall financial expectations for each account
Plans, organizes, and mobilizes the right resources for sales execution, marketing, and hotel CRM strategies
Completes other tasks and duties as assigned based on business needs
Supervisory Responsibility
As applicable, supervises, coaches, directs, trains, and evaluates staff; Prepares and conducts employee reviews and completes timecard approvals.
Responsible for carrying out recruitment and hiring efforts in partnership with human resources and management.
Required Experience:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
5+ years of experience in hotel sales; or an equivalent number of years of education and sales experience.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, emphasis on Hospitality, Marketing, or Business strongly preferred.
Proven track record of great guest services scores, meeting brand standards, solid business references and national brand experience strongly preferred.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively with community partners, vendors, external parties, and across internal divisions.
Ability to learn and understand profit and loss statements, as well as the ability to assist GM to create and adhere to an annual budget.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Exposed to ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment found in a typical office environment, quiet to moderate noise level.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand at a desk for up to 8-hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
Must have the ability to move around freely throughout the property and office, and necessity varies from day to day.
