Description

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Abstract and Survey Assistant to support property acquisition and right-of-way (R/W) projects for a local business. The ideal candidate will have expertise in title reviews, land descriptions, property-related computations, and survey plotting while leveraging CAD and GIS tools. This role requires a strong understanding of land survey principles and the ability to compile, analyze, and ensure the accuracy of property records and descriptions.

Key Responsibilities:

Examine abstracts and titles for fee-simple or R/W easements, ensuring no conflicts with land use and verifying accuracy of property descriptions and documentation.

Collect critical details for property acquisitions, easements, and right-of-way projects.

Create accurate basemaps for transmission R/W projects that meet compliance standards.

Draft legally compliant property and right-of-way descriptions for transactions.

Plot survey data and develop necessary information for property and R/W plans.

Verify the accuracy of drawings and property records for legal filings, including deeds and agreements.

Analyze aerial photos, contour maps, and survey notes to support project teams.

Perform online property and legal research as required.

Assess consultant-developed survey basemaps for accuracy and adherence to standards.

Draft scopes of work and manage RFPs for survey vendors on basemap and R/W projects.

Requirements

Practical experience with surveying procedures and duties.

Proven ability to review abstracts, draft legal deed descriptions, and prepare property and R/W documentation.

Proficiency in algebra, trigonometry, and related mathematics for solving survey-related problems.

Skilled in desktop computing, calculators, and performing required calculations.

Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality of materials (Source: MC24 Job Search Guide US eBook.pdf).

Proficient in AutoCAD, Carlson, GIS applications, LiDAR data, and PASDA information.

Onsite availability at Lehigh Service Center at least one day weekly.

At least one year of employment with the current firm.

Pennsylvania license preferred but not required.
