Mission:The mission of the Texas Department of Banking is to ensure Texas has a safe, sound, and competitive financial services system.
This is an in-office position. Remote work will not be an option.
General Description:Performs complex computer systems support work in a help desk setting. Works under limited supervision, with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Job Duties: Oversees the delivery of technical support for agency employees and other end users to ensure that problems and requests have been appropriately documented and resolved timely; and helps in researching and resolving escalated problems, which includes the complex and/or critical technical problems. Coordinates and oversees the setting up of equipment and performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software. Coordinates, troubleshoots and/or updates computers and applications. Responsible for maintaining and reporting on the inventory of information technology assets. Conducts presentations and briefings. Responsible for ticket management and reporting using the Departments ticketing system(s). Monitors and responds to daily help desk communications e.g., phones, email, messaging, collaboration software for problems, remedial actions taken, and installation activities. Liaison for third party support services including telephone system changes and updates. Reviews and provides recommendations regarding the procurement of information technology equipment and software. May assists with network security, administration, and maintenance. Collaborates with IT and agency staff of all levels to ensure business needs are addressed in a timely, effective, and cost-effective manner. Maintains the necessary security controls over software. Develops and maintains procedure and manuals. Provides training and operational assistance to Department personnel. Installs and repairs computer hardware, software and peripherals. Tests, trains, and supports programs written by the Department or from purchased software. Manages users access and services using Active Directory. Maintains IT internal procedures in a clear, concise, and professional manner. Represents the Department of Banking to other governmental, stakeholder, and regulated entities in a professional, collaborative, and objective manner. May supervise the work of others. Perform other duties as assigned.

Graduation from senior high school or equivalent 2 years Full- time experience performing IT troubleshooting in a technical (computer) help desk. Experience troubleshooting Windows 11 systems and Microsoft 365. A+ Certified

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with OpenText ECM Experience with Microsoft Intune ITIL Foundation Certification
Special Requirements: Position requires moderate overnight travel, up to 15%. Must possess or obtain within 90 days a valid Texas Drivers license. Satisfactory driving records are required for driving any vehicle to conduct agency business. Final applicants must certify that personally owned vehicles used for agency business have Texas minimum liability coverage and a valid state inspection. This position requires that the incumbent demonstrate strong personal financial responsibility and integrity. Final applicants will be subject to an employment credit check, driving record check, and criminal background check.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of the practices, principles, and techniques of computer operations; information systems; computer software and hardware; information security policies and procedures; local and wide area networks; and the management of information systems. Ability to work with customers and staff in a cordial, professional and supportive manner. Skill in the use and support of computers, the use of applicable programs and systems, and troubleshooting information systems. Ability to adapt to a changing environment while quickly learning new technologies adopted by the Department. Ability to operate information technology systems, to troubleshoot and repair equipment, to communicate effectively, and to supervise the work of others. Effective oral and written communication skills.

This position requires the incumbent to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (standing and walking) is routinely required to carry out some duties. It requires extensive computer, copiers, printers, telephone, and client/customer contact. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Marginal or corrected visual, speech and auditory requirements are required for reading printed materials and computer screens and communicating with internal and external customers.
