THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Park Resource Ranger, DCNR, your primary role will involve ensuring visitor safety, provide patrons with information, and educate the public about park rules and regulations, as you strive to protect French Creek State Park. Specific duties will involve providing information to park visitors about park facilities, services, nearby state parks, and offering emergency assistance when necessary. Your commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment will play a crucial part in enhancing the overall experience for everyone who visits.
This role will also involve providing essential administrative support to the park office, which includes tasks such as answering phone calls, managing email correspondence, and assisting visitors with their inquiries. The position encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities, including the preparation of written communications and reports, managing reservation systems, issuing necessary permits, and collecting applicable fees. This multifaceted role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the park office and enhancing the overall visitor experience.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2026.
Shift hours and days vary due to operational need, with a 30-minute lunch
Weekends, holidays, and all shifts as needed at 37.5 hours per week

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:
This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
This position requires employees obtain a valid certification in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR approved by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent within 60 days of employment.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
You must pass a background investigation.
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
