The Position
Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is currently recruiting for a full-time Social Services Program Specialist 3 in Carson City or Las Vegas, depending on the location of the selected candidate. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the following program: The Office of Community Living (OCL) Quality Assurance and Operations unit. This unit is responsible for overseeing operational and quality performance measures for three Medicaid 1915(c) Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waivers and two state-funded programs, all of which support individuals aged 65 and older or those living with physical disabilities. Under the direction of the Social Services Chief, the incumbent will manage the operational oversight of the 1915(c) waivers and may be involved in the interpretation and implementation of federal policies and regulatory changes, collaboration with the Medicaid team on policy amendments and compliance, onboarding and support of private case management providers, development of training materials, eligibility review, efforts to expand provider capacity, and coordination with the OCL Quality Assurance Manager and team to improve health and safety outcomes for program recipients. This position will supervise. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of professional social services, medical assistance programs services, or healthcare services experience which included serving as a consultant to professional/supervisory program personnel; directing the operation of a program unit; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpretation and application of complex documents such as federal regulations, technical journals, and legislative studies; writing program policies, procedures, and reports; and conducting research and preparing recommendations for management; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

This position requires statewide travel up to 25% of the time.
A valid drivers license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
