Duties Description The Senior Licensed Practical Nurse 2 (SLPN2) is assigned to the Mistler, Spruce, Heritage, and Riverview IRA facilities. Mistlerserves five individuals with varying medical needs, while Spruce accommodates four individuals, Heritage serves three, andRiverview serves four, each with distinct medical and behavioral requirements. The SLPN2 will be based out of the Mistlerlocation. The SLPN2 performs the tasks and activities of a Senior Licensed Practical Nurse 1 listed below; and may superviseand train Senior Licensed Practical Nurses 1.Supervising the LPNs within their team? Developing patient care protocols and training staff on essential patient care procedures? Ensuring the implementation of medical plans and LPN nursing policies accurately, as well as timely recording ofrequired data.? Communicating Effectively between the IRA's residential staff and the Registered Nurse? Actively participating in the treatment team to develop individual treatment plans? Ensuring adherence to patient care standards and the timely delivery of services in accordance with these plans? Assessing patient responses to treatments and medications and promptly reporting any changes in health status toa Nurse II or physician.? Monitoring and supervising insulin administration, administering influenza vaccines, and managing daily oralmedications and treatments.? Accurate documentation, including The Ready to Go, monthly MARS, consents, and current prescriptions, must bemaintained.? Addressing concerns raised by patients, families, and staff, escalating issues to higher-level personnel asnecessary.? Maintaining comprehensive documentation of patient conditions and administered treatments.NOTE: You must have a valid driver's license to apply as travel is a part of the duties involved in this position. Minimum Qualifications Permanent Qualifications: A license and current registration to practice as a practical nurse in New York State and twoyears of experience providing nursing care and treatment services to individuals under the supervision of a registered nurse;assisting with the implementation of treatment plans; administering, observing, and recording medication management;educating and counseling individuals and families regarding illnesses, medications, tests, and treatment goals andprocedures; monitoring and recording individuals progress; and supervising direct care staff.Transfer Qualifications: Candidates must be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.To determine if your current Civil Service title is eligible for transfer to this title, visit the Career Mobility GOT-IT website: https://careermobilityoffice.cs.ny.gov/cmo/gotit/index.cfm.
Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.- Please note that starting salary for this title reflects the increased hiring salary, geographic pay differential and Mid-Hudson adjustment. Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for CSEA Grade 13 ($53,413), Increased Hiring Salary ($6,656), Geographic Pay Differential ($13,000) and Mid-Hudson Adjustment ($2,000). The Geographic Pay Differential and Mid-Hudson adjustment is added to the job rate of ($65,061). - If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee.- For CSEA positions: Local Bidding Agreements will be honored.- Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures.
