Overview
Schedule: Day Shift
Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Senior Data Scientist directs and carries out data-intensive research and development (R&D) aimed at solving meaningful clinical-research problems and developing new clinical-research tools by applying advanced neuroimaging, machine learning and computational methods to large pediatric MRI datasets.
Key Responsibilities:
Consult with Principal Investigator of Research Lab: Define problems and data sets, propose solutions using advanced neuroimaging analysis techniques. (30%)
Research and Development: Design and execute research projects utilizing advanced computational and neuroimaging techniques to generate novel insights relevant to the target pediatric population. Specific duties may include (but are not limited to) data extraction, wrangling, and preparation; design and implementation of neuroimaging pipelines, statistical models and algorithms; evaluation on large pediatric MRI data sets; and dissemination of pipelines/models. (30%)
Publication and Presentation: Produce manuscripts describing research results for publication in both medical and computational neuroimaging journals and deliver presentations to various audiences. (20%)
Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members from diverse backgrounds, including clinical researchers and statisticians. (10%)
Additional Duties: May occasionally perform duties not explicitly listed above that are necessary for the advancement of the research lab or surrounding clinical and research community. Examples may include consulting with or lending support to clinical researchers and planning and promoting research symposiums. (5%)

Qualifications/Work Experience: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field and 5+ years' experience conducting data science research, or M.S. or Ph.D. in a STEM field and 3+ year's experience conducting data science research. Publications are a plus. Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with open-source software projects.
Experience with large brain MRI datasets, including structural MRI, diffusion and functional MRI data.
Familiarity with pediatric research and information visualization concepts.
Proficiency in Python, Pandas, and machine learning libraries (e.g., Keras, Theano, Sci-kit Learn).
Experience with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, git).
Passion for data science and staying updated on the latest methods.
Education/Licensure/Certification: B.S in Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field. M.S. in Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Ph.D. preferred. Graduate-level coursework in machine learning, data mining, visualization, statistics, artificial intelligence, probabilistic models, or optimization.
Pay Scale Information
$104,395.00-$178,963.00

Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
