Summary In this position you will work as a member of the Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center (MWEOC), IT Services Division, Infrastructure Services Branch team. The ideal candidate will have experience designing, implementing, and supporting network services (e.g., data, voice, and circuits) for customers upon request while working with contractors on Optical Transport Systems. Responsibilities All MWEOC staff have emergency assignments and are considered deployed in place. Exercises and activations are planned and unplanned, and may require long hours, nights, weekends and holidays. All MWEOC employees are: (1) required to use a government-issued electronic device (to include cellular phones); (2) subject to recall during emergency situations; and (3) required to perform work in locations both above and below ground. What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will serve as an Information Technology Specialist (Network) responsible for maintaining a vast array of network systems hardware and campus infrastructure connectivity for mission-critical information systems. Typical assignments include: Providing technical assistance and guidance to internal and external customers; evaluating and advising on the effectiveness of existing and proposed technologies and program initiatives. Installing and troubleshooting a wide range of network equipment, ranging from simple telephone circuits to 10Gb circuits and associated delivery equipment; conferring with team members to correct problems. Responsible for installing and or programming analog, digital, voIP, TSG voIP, vIPr (Secure), satellite and fax/modem phone instruments. Responsible for installation, programming, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of networking, telephone, and radio equipment to include uninterruptible power supplies (UPS's).
