Accounting Manager/Supervisor

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor to join our team in Watsonville, California. This Contract to permanent position offers a dynamic opportunity to lead financial operations, manage accounting processes, and support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance, streamlining procedures, and providing valuable insights to drive organizational success.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate on financial planning activities, including budgeting, annual audit preparation, and significant organizational projects.

Develop and implement policies to enhance operational efficiencies and ensure compliance with financial standards.

Provide departmental budget assistance and financial analysis to support decision-making for officers and executives.

Prepare detailed ad hoc reports and offer recommendations based on business metrics and financial trends.

Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes while ensuring accuracy and adherence to schedules.

Maintain general ledger and subsidiary ledgers, and produce financial reports for executive review.

Manage grant tracking, billing, and reconciliation processes to align with grant requirements and organizational goals.

Supervise and provide training to accounting staff, fostering skill development and team performance.

Attend finance and audit committee meetings, producing minutes and contributing to strategic discussions.

Ensure effective management of contracts, internal controls, and compliance with accounting standards. Requirements - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with nonprofit experience preferred.

Proficiency with accounting software systems, including Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.

Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and spreadsheet design.

Strong understanding of accounting cycles, month-end close processes, and general ledger management.

Demonstrated ability to manage external financial audits and resolve complex accounting issues.

Experience in mentoring and leading accounting teams to achieve high performance.

Exceptional attention to detail and ability to document accounting processes effectively.
