Education: AAS in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or higher (BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology is acceptable, but this is a technician-level role)
Description
The Electrical Technician III will serve as a critical resource within the Automation Engineering Department. This role is responsible for electrical and mechanical support of both existing and new fiber processing automation equipment, with a strong focus on new equipment installation. The technician will work cross-functionally with engineering teams and provide hands-on troubleshooting, component integration, and commissioning support.
Requirements
Electrical Functions
Provide 2nd and 3rd level troubleshooting for production equipment
Specify and integrate components like sensors, motors, drives, and cables
Fabricate and install basic electrical systems (junction boxes, low-complexity panels)
Identify vendors, obtain quotes, and manage component procurement
Support equipment start-up and design/documentation of electrical systems
Revise equipment drawings and update documentation as needed
Oversee contractor work during installations and conversions
Collaborate with IT, mechanical, process, and electrical engineers
Mechanical Functions
Specify and integrate components (piping, fittings, pumps, heaters)
Design components using Inventor or AutoCAD
Manage part quotes, orders, and vendor relationships
Oversee proto@type system assembly
Support system commissioning and update documentation post-project
Partner with cross-functional teams on mechanical design and implementation
Required Qualifications
Education
AAS in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or similar
BS in Electrical Engineering or Technology acceptable (note: this is a technician-level role)
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar technician role
Skills
Hands-on experience in industrial electrical troubleshooting (meters, PLCs, drives, motors)
Understanding of electrical schematics and mechanical system design
Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as Inventor and AutoCAD
Mechanical system integration and part fabrication experience
Experience in automation systems and equipment installation oversight
Strong documentation and organizational skills
Familiarity with LO/TO, OSHA standards, and NFPA 70E
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Desired Skills
AutoCAD or Autodesk Inventor/Vault proficiency
Familiarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, and material handling systems
Experience with conveyor systems and Fanuc robots
Knowledge of electrical systems (low/medium voltage, safety systems)
Strong data analysis abilities using Excel, Pi, and Access
