SGI Global is seeking a Senior Civil Investigator to support the Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) program at the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), Southern District of Alabama. This position plays a vital role in investigating and developing civil fraud cases and other enforcement actions that protect taxpayer dollars and uphold the integrity of federally funded programs.

The Investigator will work closely with Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) and agency partners to develop complex civil cases-particularly under the False Claims Act-involving fraud, civil rights violations, and procurement misconduct. Investigations often require in-depth analysis of financial and documentary evidence, witness interviews, and coordination with multiple federal, state, and local agencies.

Job Duties

Conducting thorough and systematic investigations of fraud and misconduct affecting federal, state, and local government programs.

Gathering and analyzing documentary evidence, financial records, billing statements, and claims data.

Drafting subpoenas, Civil Investigative Demands (CIDs), and other requests for information.

Interviewing witnesses and subjects, corroborating statements, and building factual records.

Preparing detailed investigative reports, case summaries, and litigation support materials.

Coordinating investigative strategy with AUSAs and partner agencies.

Using electronic databases to verify financial information, locate assets, and analyze fraud patterns.

Testifying in court and assisting with witness preparation and evidence presentation.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship.

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience).

Background in law enforcement, forensic accounting, healthcare fraud, civil litigation, or legal investigations.

Experience working with or supporting federal agencies.

Familiarity with medical billing practices and reviewing healthcare records.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 4 background investigation.

Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.

Experience conducting investigations involving financial records, fraud schemes, or regulatory violations.

Proficient with common software tools such as Microsoft Office; ability to analyze large volumes of documents and data.
