The overall purpose of this position is to support relationships within consensus building groups/ecosystems and with external stakeholders with respect to IPR activities, as well as internal customers for business intelligence. The incumbent in this position serves as a front-line resource to identify/alert IEEE to potential IPR issues and identifies opportunities to expedite the process through possible changes in policy, tools and training. The Program Coordinator must have or be able to develop knowledge of copyright and trademarks, and facilitate the knowledge to staff and the volunteer community. The individual will coordinate with Legal & Compliance (L&C) on intellectual property rights (IPR) requests and will coordinate with the Associate Director, Market Business Intelligence Reporting and Operations, for market intelligence reports and dashboards. The incumbent engages with consensus developing groups; provides training with respect to IPR as it pertains to the standards development process; participates in the governance ad-hoc committees; supports the implementation of copyright policy changes to committees; and identifies opportunities to expedite the process through possible changes in policy, tools and training.The role will report directly to the Director, IPR & Risk Mgmt. This position works under minimal level of supervision.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct support to the Director, IPR & Risk Management.Provide front-line responses to identify/alert IEEE to potential IPR issues.The incumbent will coordinate responses to IPR inquiries among volunteers, customers, external counsel, and internal staff.Review Project Authorization Requests to address need for copyright permission.Process IPR agreements and regulatory review/draft sharing requests, including verifying organization tax status, confirming compliance with the IEEE SA copyright policy, and setting up draft access.Provides accurate, timely, proactive and professional direction to pre-standardization and standards developing committees in IPR matters, and act as a critical resource to identify/alert IEEE to potential liability for copyright and trademark use.Maintain IPR web pages, FAQs, and associated training presentations.Support development, tracking, and maintenance of intelligence reports.Coordinate and validate information provided in business intelligence dashboards.Conduct data source validation analyses.Act as interface for basic data reports.Participates in special project teams on an as-needed basis to address potential changes, issues or new policy and procedures.Provides input to the training material for staff and volunteersProvides front line diagnosis, remedy, and/or referral for constituent tool and service challengesOther associated tasks and duties may be assigned Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Intellectual Property Rights, or relevant field Req Work Experience 2-3 years Related industry experience, with a focus in IPR or business administration ReqSkills and Requirements Must have strong project management skills and the ability to work well under deadlinesMust have excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneouslyMust have organizational and professional interpersonal/communication skillsSituational awareness and ability to escalate conflict/conflict resolution in the areas of oversightShould have experience in ensuring adherence to processes and policies, as well as best practicesExperience working with a diverse, global community is preferredAdvanced written and oral communications skills are preferredShould possess situational awareness and ability to escalate conflict/conflict resolution in the areas of oversightKnowledge of engineering and technical industries preferredBe familiar with the value and use of standards in global marketplacesBe familiar with the standards development process, the standards environment, and potential legal liabilities from an intellectual property perspectiveDevelop the ability to IPR developments and understand impact from judicial or legislative eventsKnowledge and use of Microsoft Office SuiteKnowledge and use of databases and online/web-based interfacesOther Requirements:As defined in IEEE Policies, individuals currently serving on an IEEE board or committee are not eligible to apply.
