Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Missoula, Montana. This role involves managing various accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue recognition, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of corporate tax and accounting principles and will be dedicated to maintaining accuracy and compliance in all financial processes.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the entry and processing of payment requests in Dynamics 365 Business Central, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Serve as a backup for accounts payable tasks, including extracting approved items, preparing files for bank transmission, and reviewing open items.

Manage accounts receivable processes, including recording funds received and new pledges.

Review agreements for revenue recognition, ensuring compliance with conditions or restrictions.

Record month-end entries for administrative fees on restricted funds and prepare quarterly fund balance roll-forward reports.

Coordinate with a third-party vendor to monitor and process annual charitable registrations across all required states.

Assist in creating monthly and quarterly financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Support month-end close processes by preparing journal entries and adjustments, ensuring accurate financial statements.

Provide timely and accurate responses to auditor requests during audits.

Participate in cross-training initiatives to support payroll, contributions accounting, and other finance-related tasks. Requirements - Proficiency in corporate tax, including corporate tax returns and sales tax.

Experience with general ledger management and journal entry preparation.

Strong knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

Familiarity with revenue recognition principles and restricted fund accounting.

Experience with accounting software, preferably Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Ability to produce accurate and timely financial statements and reports.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external vendors.
