Overview
Serves as a strategic and trusted advisor to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in defining and executing finance strategic priorities and initiatives. Responsible for both directives from the CFO, as well as independently-driven initiatives that reflect the inputs and priorities from finance senior leadership. Drive operational excellence within finance, enabling smooth operations, the streamlining of routines and processes, and the execution of strategic priorities and initiatives. Serve as a liaison with key stakeholders fostering communication, collaboration, and information flow. Oversee the finance operational risk management program, in addition to finance learning and communications. Partner with Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support the management and development of finance talent. Director report to the CFO.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement long-term finance strategies and objectives, aligned to the enterprise strategy, and in conjunction with finance leadership
Identify areas within finance to drive scalability, increasing strength, agility and efficiency across the team
Build and maintain relationships with finance leadership and other key stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication with the CFO
Contribute to a culture of collaboration by actively working across business lines, communicating knowledge and promoting the sharing of information
Facilitate the CFO's agenda through meetings and events, ensuring effective discussions and following up on action items
Maintain broad, comprehensive knowledge and current awareness of the organization, procedures, policies, and operations of the office of the COO, President and Board of Directors
Ensures finance-owned Navy Federal instructions, policies, and procedures are current, facilitating and managing updates, as needed
Coordinate CFO's input to board-level committee meetings, Board of Directors reports and presentations, and other corporate documents
Oversee the finance operational risk management program team to effectively identify, assess, monitor, measure and mitigate operational risk
Provide strategic recommendations to the CFO and finance leadership regarding risk management activities and ways to improve methodologies and practices
Oversee the Finance learning and communications teams by establishing and implementing a strategic communications plan for the finance organization, driving engagement through various activities, communications, and initiatives
Work with finance leadership and consult with HRBP to support all aspects of Navy Federal's Integrated Talent Strategy (ITS), including learning and talent development
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of banking/financial industry trends, products and services
Proven experience and desire to serve in a consultative capacity to business leaders, shaping strategy, goals and alignment
Extensive experience in creating and delivering effective presentations to groups of various sizes and productively communicating to stakeholders, team members, and leaders
Significant experience in demonstrating thought-leadership, initiative-taking, decision-making and creativity solving business problems
Proven track record of having a curious business mindset with an ability to condense complex concepts and analysis into clear and concise takeaways that drive business decisions
Advanced experience in managing cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects of the highest complexity which have business risk and impact
Experience with change management and organizational development strategies in order to influence and assist organizational change initiatives
Experience with workforce and succession planning
Significant experience working with multiple sources in multiple formats and using visualization tools to effectively summarize, communicate and present findings highlighting key areas of focus
Advanced leadership, delegation, coaching, and mentoring skills and the ability to make sound long and short-term business decisions
Advanced skill leading with diplomacy and tact while maintaining appropriate assertiveness and persistence
Advanced skill influencing and building consensus with business partners
Advanced skill in results-oriented leadership in a challenging environment
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience
Desired Qualifications
Experience with credit union financials and/or NCUA regulations
Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
