Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team, ideal for a recent college graduate with a degree in business or accounting. The candidate should have a strong foundation in accounting principles, familiarity with QuickBooks desktop/online, and an interest in the construction or similar industry. This role is perfect for a proactive individual eager to grow their career in accounting, with a passion for numbers and supporting construction projects. Key Responsibilities: Assist in maintaining and updating financial records using QuickBooks Desktop and Online, including data entry, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger. Support reconciliation of bank statements and credit card accounts to ensure accuracy. Help track project-related expenses to maintain budget integrity and cost control. Assist in preparing financial reports, such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and job-specific cost reports. Collaborate with project managers and team members to support project budgets and cash flow. Aid in preparing and filing sales tax and other regulatory reports under supervision. Support month-end and year-end closing procedures. Communicate with vendors and clients to address invoice discrepancies, payment issues, and related inquiries. Learn and assist with benefit deductions and payroll processes. Other duties as needed. Qualifications: College degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (graduated within the last 1-2 years). Familiarity with QuickBooks (through coursework, internships, or personal projects) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Basic understanding of accounting principles, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting. Exposure to job costing or project accounting (through internships, academic projects, or coursework) is a plus. Preferred Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting. Effective written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service mindset. Willingness to learn progress billing, change orders, and work-in-progress (WIP) reports. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift quickly. Eagerness to grow and take on increasing responsibilities in accounting and bookkeeping. Nice-to-Have: Internship or part-time experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related role, preferably in construction or a similar industry. Familiarity with Netchex software or other payroll systems.
