About this Job
The mission of Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) is to provide programming that is intelligent, informative, educational and entertaining. LPB connects the citizens of the state by creating content that showcases Louisiana's unique history, people, places and events.
LPB is a state network of six non-commercial television stations in Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Monroe, and Shreveport licensed to the Louisiana Educational Television Authority (LETA), established in 1971 by the Louisiana Legislature. LPB is also affiliated with WLAE-TV in New Orleans.
LPB airs quality national PBS programming including PBS NewsHour, MASTERPIECE, NOVA, NATURE, Antiques Roadshow, Great Performances, as well the many educational programs from PBS KIDS. In addition to its main channel (LPB1), LPB and PBS have a 24/7 children's channel (LPB2), and LPB and Create TV have a how-to and lifestyle channel (LPB3).
The Business Services Division is seeking anAccounting Technicianto enhance its collaborative team dedicated to advancing the agency's mission. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented and skilled in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with financial reporting. Key responsibilities include vendor payments, reconciling accounts, preparing journal entries, and supporting the month-end close process. The role offers an opportunity to work closely with the Director of Business Services and Accountant 2, who will provide valuable insights into best practices in financial management and accounting processes.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience or training in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, or financial operations or computations.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
As an Accounting Technician you will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting and clerical tasks that support the efficient operation of our department, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial records.
· Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements
· Help maintain accurate records of financial transactions and ensure all entries are properly documented
· Support the accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoicing and vendor payment processing
· Conducts basic reconciliations of bank statements and accounts
· Participate in month-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
· Collaborate with team members to identify and implement process improvements
