About the Role
We are looking for a Mid/Senior Level Wetland Scientist to join our Seattle office. This role primarily supports environmental permitting and compliance efforts throughout the greater Washington region, with occasional travel across the western United States. The ideal candidate will lead and manage field studies, data analysis, reporting, and regulatory documentation for wetlands, streams, and biological resources. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of impactful projects while working collaboratively with clients, agencies, and internal teams.
You Will:
Lead and manage field surveys and technical assessments for wetlands, streams, wildlife, and threatened or endangered species.
Conduct and oversee wetland delineations, stream ordinary high water mark determinations, and habitat evaluations.
Perform quality control reviews of field data, technical reports, and biological assessments.
Prepare and lead the development of environmental permit applications and regulatory compliance documents, including for Clean Water Act Section 404 and Endangered Species Act Section 7.
Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and coordination of project teams.
Support business development efforts by identifying new clients and project opportunities.
Travel as needed for fieldwork and project assignments throughout the western U.S.
You Have:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field.
Minimum of 6 years of experience conducting wetland and biological fieldwork in the Pacific Northwest.
Demonstrated experience preparing permit applications and technical reports for natural resource permitting.
Familiarity with Pacific Northwest flora, fauna, soils, and aquatic ecosystems.
Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification, or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment is required.
Strong knowledge of Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and Washington State/local environmental regulations.
Proficiency in technical writing, communication, and coordination software/tools.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate fieldwork and deliverables.
Must be capable of physically demanding fieldwork in varying conditions.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
WSDOT Biological Assessment Author certification.
Completion of wetland certificate training from the University of Washington, Portland State University, or equivalent.
Experience with GPS and ArcGIS software and tools.
Compensation Information: Base salary for this position is in the range of $100,000-$140,000.
Compensation is determined by factors such as education, experience, location, and role. As employee-owners, we are eligible for performance-based bonuses and our salaries are reviewed annually. Our compensation structure prioritizes transparency and internal pay equity.
