?This job is a member of the Information Technology Team within the Information Technology Division.
?Responsible for leveraging cutting edge technology to solve business problems at American Airlines by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct and test reusable objects, and making the codebase a better place to live and work.
What you'll do
Partners closely with the Data Privacy Office (DPO) and the Business Analytics development team to provide leadership, technical and functional requirements and solutions to support the business needs
Directs the supervision of the Business Analytics development team to include hiring, work allocation, scheduling, training and professional development, problem resolution, troubleshooting, performance evaluation and related activities
Designs, develops and reviews the integration of analytics solutions with applications by collaborating with application architects
Develops Business Intelligence (BI) cross-training, mentoring and innovation across the entire Business Analytics Services organization
Collaborates with Application Architect and Data Architect to introduce and integrate analytics/data tools into the organization
Leads software vendor POC product evaluations and recommendations, and design and manage development of the technical solution
Leads effort to transition the team to support the DevOps model
Participates in the organization wide analytics initiative as needed

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
5 years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications in hosted/cloud production environments
5 years of professional, design, and open-source experience
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Master's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
Airline Industry experience, including Native Sabre
Experience with Azure and Kafka; Streaming and in-memory computing/caching solutions (e.g. Apache Flink); cross-platform databases such as NoSQL MongoDB
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
Proficiency in Full Stack Development
Proficiency and demonstrated experience in the following technologies:
J2EE technologies: Java, JSP, JMS, JPA, JAX-RS, JAXB, JDBC
Database and persistence frameworks: Hibernate, Oracle, Object/Relational Mapping, Query performance tuning, MongoDB, GraphQL
Cloud-based development: Microsoft Azure/Amazon AWS or similar cloud technologies

Web Services: REST/SOAP (JSON/WSDL/XML), Spring REST, JAX-RS
Frameworks: Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud

Experience leading a software development team
Strong knowledge, understanding, and experience with Agile principles, preferably Scrum in complete software development lifecycle
Ability to work effectively with developers, architects, project managers, business analysts, and business unit partners
Must demonstrate technical leadership, and be able to work well within a team environment as well as independently
