Description
Job Summary: Responsible for design and development of electrical control systems, instrumentation, and equipment into liquid flow metering and pumping applications. The position provides research and design, implementation, and technical support of electrical hardware, embedded firmware, and supporting software for new products. The primary focus will be developing high technology flow measurement devices - electromagnetic meters, ultrasonic meters, and Coriolis meters. The position will also focus effort on integrating emerging communication technologies to provide ease of use of our meters and add-on electronics options that creates a simplified user experience. This involves collaborating closely with the marketing team, product manager, engineering team, and manufacturing production process engineering team to design electronics for optimal performance, quality and manufacturability.
Works with Engineering team, Product Manager, Marketing Team, and Product Support Team, to help guide the next generation product roadmap.
Works in close collaboration with Electrical Engineering Team, Mechanical Engineering Team, and Process Engineering Team from design concept inception to optimize the design for better performance, higher quality, lower cost, and simplified manufacturability.
As part of the engineering design team, this position develops products related to instrumentation and control of fluid measurement (flow meters), fluid flow (pumps), and fluid management systems (FMS).
Helps define system architecture, hardware and software specifications, schedules, cost estimates, test strategies and designs proto@types, schematics, and printed circuit board designs aligned with business objectives and focused on fluid movement, measurement, and control/monitoring/reporting.
Applies the principles and techniques of electrical engineering using analysis tools related to the design, development, and implementation of hardware and software for products.
Implements the design of ultra-low power microcontroller based digital systems, low noise/high gain analog circuits, LCD interfaces, sensor interface circuits, and wireless communication for future IoT compatibility.
Generate low level firmware drivers and higher level firmware application code in C/C++ programming language.
Participates in hardware and software design reviews and product validation to increase design confidence and reduce product cycle time.
Will use measurement theory, statistics, and excel spreadsheets to analyze proto@type performance and create mathematical linear and non-linear measurement corrections in firmware.
Coordinates with engineering lab personnel to perform performance and optimization analysis on proto@types while ensuring 100% feature verification testing in all available product configurations.
Supports regression testing of new application level software releases and bug fixes.
Troubleshoots circuit design or firmware related problems during development and with products transitioning to production.
Supports the creation of calibration, configuration, and functional test standards in collaboration with production process engineers.
Support the development of circuit board and sub-assembly test fixtures by writing design requirements specifications for fixtures used by our company Quality Assurance and our contract manufacturers.
Works in close collaboration with Operations and Process Engineering to ensure manufacturing assembly effectiveness and to support all changes that may affect production.
