CIBC's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has oversight over all investigative aspects of CIBC's Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing (AML/ATF) program, including high risk client identification and management, periodic review, transaction monitoring and operations.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Investigator-Capital Markets, you will play a critical role in detecting and preventing financial crimes within our organization. Your responsibilities will include analyzing financial transactions, identifying suspicious activities, and ensuring compliance with AML regulations. You'll work closely with the AML team to maintain the integrity of our financial systems and protect against money laundering and terrorist financing.

How You Will Succeed
Transaction Monitoring - Review and analyze Capital Markets financial transactions. Identify patterns of suspicious activity that may indicate money laundering or other financial crimes. Report any illicit activities promptly.
Conduct Investigations - Perform investigations related to capital markets products, including Prime Brokerage services offered to CIBC to institutional clients. Use internet websites and internal systems to investigate and decision alerted capital markets activities.
Risk Assessment - Evaluate the risk associated with specific transactions or clients. Determine the likelihood of money laundering or other illicit activities.
Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) : Prepare SARs based on identified suspicious transactions. Collaborate with law enforcement and regulatory authorities as needed. Maintain confidentiality of reports and documentation as required by law.
Data Analysis : Utilize Excel and other tools to analyze transaction data. Identify anomalies and patterns indicative of money laundering.
Regulatory Knowledge : Stay informed about evolving AML regulations and industry best practices.
Collaboration : Communicate effectively with lines of business to obtain information or documentation necessary to analyze transactions. Assist in AML-related projects and assignments.

It's an asset if you possess a minimum of 1-2 years of investigative or related experience with an emphasis on AML/ATF and you also possess knowledge of banking product and service offerings and intermediate Excel skills (use and creation of pivot tables/charts, using lookup functions, data validations, etc.).
It's an additional asset if you have knowledge of Capital Markets products, experience working at a Trust Company, Investment Advisor or Institutional Brokerage with experience in trade surveillance and familiarity with federal securities laws and SEC/FINRA regulations.
You have a Bachelor's degree/diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field, or equivalent job experience in banking preferred.
You're a certified professional. It's an asset if you have current accreditation and good standing in relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, CFCS, CAFP).

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $69,200.00 - 80,000.00 USD Annual for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
