About the role: The AIS Electrical Hardware R&D team is looking for an experienced electrical engineer with extraordinary potential to apply their expertise through the definition, design, and test of high voltage / high-reliability electronics in the development of active implantable devices. As a member of the electrical hardware design team, you will make important contributions to the development of life-changing medical devices through the design and testing of electronic circuits for therapy delivery, high voltage charging, power transfer, and power management. As a Principal Engineer, you will have the opportunity to own and drive portions of the design while being part of an experienced design team providing significant technical and career growth opportunities. Work Mode: At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows an onsite work model, requiring employees to be present in our Arden Hills, MN office at least four to five days per week. Your responsibilities will include: Designs, develops, troubleshoots, modifies, and tests electrical circuits and systems using current tools, analysis techniques, and technologies. Solves engineering problems through data-driven analysis and recommends corrective or alternative actions. Investigates, researches, and selects electronic circuits, components, tools, and equipment using best practices. Documents electrical development, testing, and verification by writing protocols, reports, memos, and change requests. Tracks electrical development effort by creating and maintaining records in Jira and other approved tracking management tools. Provides clear communication to stakeholders at key technical updates to facilitate crisp decision-making. Develops novel improvements to products or processes resulting in expansion of BSC's Intellectual Property portfolio in key strategic areas. Works cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing on complex projects to ensure project success. Trains and/or provide work directions to technicians and other engineers. In all actions, it demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with all documented quality processes and procedures. Required qualifications: BS in Electrical Engineering or related field. 9+ years of Electrical Engineering experience with bachelor's degree, or 7+ years with Master's. Experience in high-voltage power supply design with a focus on hardware-specific design. Experience utilizing EMI/EMC best practices for board-level circuit design using Altium or similar packages. Strong lab experience including troubleshooting, iterative testing, fixture development/usage, and the operation of test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, etc.) Expertise in circuit design analysis techniques and simulation tools such as LTSpice. Experience with medical device industry or highly regulated industry. Ability to work onsite at our Arden Hills, MN facility. Preferred qualifications: Experience with medical device electronics and systems. Experience with communication protocols and transceiver module integration. Experience using electrical engineering analysis techniques to map high-level requirements into circuit specifications. Experience with LabVIEW,MATLAB, and/or Python for use in automation, simulation, and data analysis. Experience with firmware debugging, digital logic, and FPGA development. Ability to solve complex problems with root cause analysis, including designing and executing experimental plans and using statistical methodologies to drive data-based decisions. Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources. Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
