Description
Join us at the forefront of Amazon's sustainability initiatives to work on environmental and social advancements to support Amazon's long term worldwide sustainability strategy. At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people.
The Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) organization capitalizes on Amazon's scale and speed to build a more resilient and sustainable company. We manage our social and environmental impacts globally, and drive solutions that enable our customers, businesses, and the world to become more sustainable.
The Sustainability Measurement & Abatement Technology team builds technical solutions to track, record, and forecast Amazon's WW impact on the Environment (i.e., Carbon, Water, Waste, etc.). This includes calculating past and current impacts and future abatement plans, ensuring credibility through standards and validations, and highlighting non-obvious opportunities for Amazon's global business teams.
We are looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer that will serve as a strategic and technical lead, directly serving leaders across the Carbon and Environment pillars of the organization. They will primarily work as a data steward and consultant across several pillars, engaging program and product stakeholders to define and refine strategies to ensure that domains have the proper metrics in place to effectively evaluate success against their commitments, including maintaining a high bar for data quality for internal and external reporting purposes. They will provide direct input into long-term strategy documents for stakeholders, evaluating the measurability of proposed goals.
The Senior BIE will serve as a technical leader on the analytics team, designing and executing solutions to improve the team's reporting infrastructure (including developing data marts, establishing data quality SOPs, and support reviews to ensure metrics meet regulatory compliance standards), as well as ensuring that stakeholder data needs are translated well into requirements for upstream software teams.
Beyond the primary responsibilities described above, the Senior BIE will also serve as a mentor for other members of the analytics team, leading technical assessments and evaluating deliverables against defined criteria. They will directly support interviewing and hiring decisions for analytics professionals (BIEs, BAs, DEs, Data Scientists), and influence those processes for partner teams (Product and Program Leads).
Key job responsibilities
Lead end-to-end development and delivery of new operational metric reporting initiatives, including interviewing senior leadership to gather requirements, writing BRDs/PRFAQs/HLDs to reflect those requirements in an executable plan, working with upstream tech providers to build systems for collecting necessary information, and owning both back-end pipelines and front-end visualization layers to showcase information.
Establish and maintain mechanisms to hold analytics team to a high-bar and instilling operational excellence into all deliverable @types.
Partner with program and product leaders to deliver highly visible solutions for measuring and reporting on Amazon's global footprint impact areas, enabling stakeholders to consume information in consistent and high-quality interfaces based on their respective maturity level.
