Summary:
Coordinates the activities of the Medical Staff Office of the hospital by providing support services to the medical staff that includes preparing and performing ancillary work required for medical staff committees including preparing the schedule of meetings, agenda, minutes, all follow-up correspondence. Ensures that credentials files of all practitioners have been fully processed and verified as required by law, accrediting body, medical staff bylaws and credentialing policy. Maintain current knowledge of Joint Commission standards and CMS regulations as they pertain to the medical staff and assist Mgr., Medical Staff Services and Senior Leadership as needed.
Responsibilities:
Coordinates all aspects of the credentialing process, including the following:
Appointments, reappointments, FPPE/OPPE, license verification, NPDB, required cardiac certifications, identification verification, etc.
Maintains computerized credentialing database information to ensure all credential files are up to date; o uniformly apply defined credentialing processes to all practitioners.
Identify administrative and professional issues with applications that require additional investigation and assessment, validates discrepancies and ensures follow up as appropriate.
Maintain timely communication with applicants on the status of the application files and any required documents or information needed to complete the credentialing process, for both appointment and reappointment.
Reviews and assesses practitioner sanctions, complaints and adverse data to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and alerts manager and applicable medical staff leadership immediately of findings.
Coordinates and maintains accurate records of Medical Staff activities by preparing agendas, minutes, and announcements for medical staff meetings assigned to this position by the manager and ensures the appropriate follow up is completed.
Coordinates submission to appropriate system department for all necessary malpractice paperwork for employed physicians.
In conjunction with manager, assures that Medical Staff functions comply with federal, state and Joint Commission standards, as well as maintains working knowledge/understanding of all regulatory requirements and participates in surveys as requested.
Coordinates overall process for plans of supervision as applicable and ensure timely updates are completed as required.
Obtains necessary signatures on credential forms and files as needed, while working with medical staff leadership.
Coordinates preparation of such reports as annual American Hospital Association report, annual Medicare admitting provider report, etc. as requested.
Contributes to the development of policies and procedures and maintains current knowledge of organization's policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Other Information:
Associate's degree preferred. In lieu of education, two years of experience is required per year of required education, exclusive of the minimum experience identified above.
