Elizabeth Freeman Center (EFC) seeks a passionate bilingual counselor/advocate to work in its Great Barrington site office. The counselor/advocate provides direct, trauma-informed support to survivors of domestic/dating/sexual violence, including safety planning, crisis intervention, systems advocacy, and resource navigation. This role is central to helping survivors regain stability, access services, and build pathways to long-term safety and empowerment. Responsibilities: - Provide direct support and advocacy for survivors of domestic, dating, and sexual violence, including: o Assessing their situation and urgent needs, and helping them access necessary resources o Offering one-on-one counseling support and support groups o Developing safety plans with survivors o Assisting with challenges related to housing, finances, benefits, children, education, mental health, and substance use o Referring survivors to other EFC services and trusted community partners (such as Community Legal Aid, the District Attorney\'s Office, and housing programs), and following up as needed - Help with community outreach and partnerships by building relationships with other service providers - Distributing outreach materials and staffing information tables at events - Maintain strong professional boundaries and ensure client confidentiality at all times - Keep timely and accurate records using the agency database - Support the overall mission of EFC by performing other duties as needed to ensure survivors receive safe, compassionate, and high-quality services in compliance with legal and grant requirements Qualifications: - Commitment to providing survivors of domestic and sexual violence with trauma-informed services and advocacy - Commitment to providing affirming, culturally relevant services to marginalized survivors (including rural, LGBTQ, immigrants, and survivors living with disabilities) - Experience working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence strongly preferred - Excellent organizational skills - Bilingual English and Spanish preferred - Ability to work well as part of a team - Ability to work effectively with community groups - Willingness to transport clients when safety is not an issue - Effective written and spoken communication, and proficient computer skills - Bachelor or Associate Degree (may be waived for relevant, comparable level of work or life experience) - Must successfully pass Criminal Record Check-CORI, be found suitable to work with children, and have valid Massachusetts driver\'s license and reliable transportation. Work Hours: 40 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work required for outreach and counseling activities Compensation and benefits: Elizabeth Freeman Center believes in offering all staff: competitive salary and benefits, engaged and dedicated colleagues, training and education in best practices, career development opportunities, openness to innovation, and the opportunity and resources to do meaningful, impactful work. This position begins at \$23.00 per hour (\$47,840 annually) with additional increments bilingual skills, special skills and education, and a year-end stipend depending on funding.
