We are looking for a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our client's team in Arden Hills, Minnesota, on a long-term contract basis. This role demands a detail-oriented individual who excels in technical accounting and has a strong commitment to process improvement. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in managing accounting and reporting responsibilities, contributing to month-end close activities, and supporting audits and reconciliation processes.

Responsibilities:

Manage accounting and reporting duties for assigned business units, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established standards.

Prepare and post journal entries as part of the month-end close process.

Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and create reports for management review.

Assist with quarterly and year-end audits by preparing required audit schedules and documentation.

Conduct Sarbanes-Oxley testing to ensure adherence to internal controls.

Support the annual patronage calculation process, ensuring data accuracy and timely completion.

Lead special projects and handle various ad hoc responsibilities as assigned.

Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes and enhance documentation.

Apply accounting principles to address areas such as current assets, liabilities, estimates, accruals, and equity method investments.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.

Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience with a focus on detail and precision.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills in data manipulation and analysis.

Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and practices.

Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, Hyperion, or Business Objects is preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all tasks.

Prior public accounting experience is a plus.
