Join Sarasota County's Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) department for an exciting opportunity to grow your career in a hands-on, physically active role supporting key technical operations. CompTIA A+ certification is required within the first year, and we're happy to help you achieve it! About the Position
The Warehouse Technician plays a vital, physically active role overseeing the responsibilities of the EIT Warehouse. Examples include receiving and shipping, managing electronic and physical inventories, and coordinating the delivery and pickup of equipment for the Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) department. In addition, you'll support the technical operations for the PC refresh project.
In this role, you will...
Maintain the EIT warehouse by organizing storage systems and ensuring cleanliness and safety.
Manage technology equipment logistics: receiving, tagging, prepping, shipping, storing, and disposal.
Test monitors, docking stations, and related computer peripherals.
Update EIT's Cherwell database and electronic inventory systems like Smartsheets.
Assist with annual PC refresh projects, including remote support, imaging via Microsoft's System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and deployment/setup of new computers.
Handle loaner service requests by testing, imaging, and installing software.
Support Dell warranty claims through troubleshooting, submitting requests, and coordinating repairs.
Conduct annual technology asset inventory and transport equipment between County facilities using County vehicles.
About the Schedule
Work Hours:
Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Typical Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ( no weekends! )
Currently located at the Fixed Assets Warehouse (off Clark Center Ave.), however, it will be relocated to the new EIT building later this year.
As a reminder, all county employees are considered essential and must be prepared to protect and support the community and its citizens. Each employee, without exception, will have a duty assignment and be required to work during a disaster or declared emergency.
About You
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
High School Diploma or its equivalent and two (2) years of experience in materials or inventory control or related field, and/or experience handling technology-related equipment in a warehouse environment.
CompTIA A+ Certification is required within the first year of hire. ( We can help with this! )
Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.
The ideal candidate has the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:

Experience with the Windows operating system, Microsoft Office products, SmartSheets, and/or the physical storage of technology equipment.
Warehouse exposure, using tools and equipment related to warehouse functions (pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.).
Logistical knowledge, storing and managing technology (i.e., AV, network, telecom, server, and/or computer equipment).
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain inventory control.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five years.
Physical Demands: Employees in this role must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 lbs. Employees can use handling devices (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessive poundage of 50-plus pounds.
CJIS Clearance: The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as a part of the hiring process.
About Everything Else
Starting Pay Range: $25.70 - $26.00, based on experience.
