Description
The Vice President of Mexico Operations will report directly to VP of Operations for HVACR Americas and work in collaboration with the Operations Leadership team. This is a leadership role that as part of the leadership staff, will work to identify and drive value across the HVACR Motors and Compressor businesses in Mexico. This role requires a strategic thinker who can provide hands-on management to lead our Mexico plant operations and distribution center to its next level of maturity. The candidate must have a broad range of experience, strong business acumen, be detail oriented, change agility, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, growing organization. A knowledge of the legal and political complexities in Mexico as well as the trade compliance and maquila legal requirements is critical.
As the Vice President of Mexico Operations for the Americas Business Unit, You Will:
Identify and drive value across the operations in Mexico by partnering with the Americas operations teams and working closely as part of the AME team
Identify, develop and prepare potential internal candidates as successors for this leadership position
Show strong passion and a sense of urgency about reaching targets. Maintain on-going and fluid communication with the VP of Operations, other key members of the executive management team, operations finance, and corporate legal team, regarding ongoing operational performance, planning/forecasting assumptions, trade compliance, legal issues and accounting matters
Prepare analysis, plans, studies and presentations as required for management. Engage in various financial analysis to drive IRR and improvement on ROIC metrics (i.e., capital, NPD, lease/buy, etc.) and value creation levers, including footprint optimization, asset utilization
In conjunction with the VP of Operations, develop operating cadence to drive delivery of annual operating plan and execute on key business metrics from long-term management plan.
Works to achieve goals while overcoming obstacles and/or planning for contingencies by serving as a trusted advisor and consultant to senior leadership
Insure the preparation and reporting of monthly, quarterly annual, and ad hoc reporting for the business and drive ongoing development of additional metrics
Partner with plant leaders and VP of Operations in presenting operating results to the executive leadership team and Mexico Location Board of Directors as required
Improve the yearly Mexico Board of Director meetings to insure the legal requirements are addressed and filed
Develop the BOD meeting process to provide value and direction for all Mexico operations and alignment to corporate goals
Ensure compliance with US and Mexico trade compliance laws at our plants in Mexico, keep abreast of changes in laws and standards and serve as the key interface with auditors enabling successful completion of all audits
Improve and evolve systems for financial planning, analysis and reporting process in Mexico
Create and drive a culture of high performance, people development and continuous improvement that values accountability, learning and a commitment to quality
Be a proven exceptional manager who motivates people and teams through recruiting and developing high-potential people and setting high standards for all personnel
Develop a strong organization review and development process that assess and reorganizes the talent within the Mexican organization, recruit key individuals to address any skill gaps, motivate and develop professionals on the team, develop a retention plan for top talent.
Lead the Copeland Corporate de Mexico organization including distribution center and non-maquila services in Mexico
Assist the Inventory Management Organization in the establishment and maintaining of internal controls including the effective design and operations of Mexico distribution center in Saltillo, Mexico
This role will work between Saltillo and Reynosa Mexico as well as time spent in Sidney, Ohio as needed
Required Education, Experience & Skills:
15+ years of experience in a relevant senior leadership position and proven track record of leadership with a commitment to excellence for a global manufacturing organization
10 or more years of management experience with a demonstrated ability to build and develop cross functional teams
A motivator and leader; someone who can drive change, promote teamwork and collaborate with colleagues at all levels of the organization
Someone with experience and commitment to identify and develop the next leaders and managers in our manufacturing locations in Mexico
Preferred Education, Experience & Skills:
Master's Degree and/or MBA
Plant Management experience
Management experience in Mexico
Experience in plant start-ups, in Mexico preferred

Collaboration First Hybrid Work Arrangements :
This role is hybrid eligible with the requirement to be in office at least three days per week. Colleagues are expected to demonstrate a collaboration first mindset, which is the understanding that teams will work together in-person and colleagues should be flexible to adjust their hybrid days based on business needs. You will have an opportunity to work with your team and leader to determine when you should be in office to drive meaningful connections and to best serve our customers.

The newly renovated Sidney campus has 1M square feet of manufacturing floor with an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. This location is the headquarters for the air conditioning and cold chain businesses. Through our 30 years of scroll compressor expertise, our air conditioning related products help bring comfort and convenience in commercial, industrial and residential spaces. The cold chain business helps ensure that food safely and efficiently travels from farm to fork. Approximately 1600 employees work in Sidney, who all support a multitude of business functions.
