Job Description
Job Summary:
Mercury Systems is seeking the world's best and brightest engineer to provide support as part of the manufacturing engineering team for the mission systems displays group, a leading provider of mission-critical avionics and display system solutions. The principal manufacturing engineer works on behalf of Mercury Systems operations organization to provide technical engineering support for the production floor, functional test department, PCBA repair, and test departments. Assist mechanical, electrical, and software engineering departments in supporting new product introduction (NPI).
Job Responsibilities:
Supporting proto@type and NPI builds
Participate in design and production readiness reviews
Technical writing to include work instructions, functional test procedures, standard operating procedures, change impact analyses, and other documentation
Providing device failure validation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
Creating Engineering Change Notices (ECN) as required
Developing and building engineering test fixtures used for testing LCDs, CCAs, cameras, and other electronic and mechanical assemblies
Assisting supervisors and engineering departments with process development and improvement
Analyzing production efficiency data, interpret results, and directing improvement initiatives
Training production floor on the use of manufacturing equipment
Evaluating and implementing new equipment
Providing labor time standards
Assisting production to meet daily production goals
Reviewing mechanical drawings, manufacturing Bills of Materials (BOM), PCBA schematics, technical data sheets (electrical, mechanical, and optical components along with chemicals and other data sheets as required) and other technical documents
Troubleshooting mechanical fitment and tolerance issues
Troubleshooting and repairing CCAs down to component level
Reviewing and troubleshooting terminal readouts for electronic assemblies
Programming of automated manufacturing equipment (i.e., functional test fixtures, BGA rework machines, CCA X-ray equipment, and environmental test equipment)
Assisting quality with reviewing mechanical dimensions, electrical component placement, cable manufacturing, CCA conformal coating, optical performance, and other parameters
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in manufacturing, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or industrial Engineering
Typically, requires a minimum of 6 -10 years' experience related to production manufacturing in Aerospace & Defense, Medical Device, Semiconductor industries
Statistical Process Control (SPC) experience
Experience with CAD and mechanical drawings
Experience with heat transfer and thermal fluids in electronic assemblies
Working knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing methodology
This position requires you to have or obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens
Preferred Qualifications:
Aerospace or defense industry experience
CCA troubleshooting using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and board schematics
CCA inspection and solder training including IPC-A-610, and J-STD-001
