Brief Summary of the Position
The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for building and managing long-term relationships with strategic customers to drive growth and maximize account performance. Reporting to the Sales Director, this role focuses on developing tailored solutions, understanding each key customer's business needs, and ensuring a high level of satisfaction through proactive account management and exceptional service delivery.
The Strategic Account Manager oversees all aspects of the customer relationship-from contract negotiations and pricing strategies to order management and after-sales support. The role also involves close collaboration with internal teams, including operations, regional sales managers, logistics, finance, engineering, and product development, to ensure a seamless and consistent customer experience.
Essential Functions
Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customers to ensure retention and account growth
Serve as the main liaison between the customer and internal teams, managing communication, expectations, and overall satisfaction
Identify customer needs and align Valmont solutions accordingly, offering strategic insights and product recommendations
Manage the complete sales cycle for key accounts, including gaining a deep understanding of the customer's business needs and strategic growth plans.
Monitor account performance and proactively address any issues or opportunities for improvement
Develop and execute key account strategies and annual objectives
Stay up to date on market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to help drive continued value for each account
Work cross-functionally with internal departments to ensure timely delivery, technical support, and quality service
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM systems, including contacts, activities, and forecasts
Other Important Details about the Role:
This role requires up to 50% domestic travel, including occasional overnight stays
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for managing both internal and external relationships
Ongoing learning and product training are expected to stay informed about industry advancements and application needs
May occasionally support other regions or attend trade shows and special events outside the key accounts
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate:
Preferred Bachelors with 6+ years relevant experience or Associates Degree with 8+ years relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience
Minimum of two years' experience as a product or sales representative
Technical experience and knowledge of Microsoft products, as well as other relevant software
Ability to organize and manage multiple, simultaneous priorities
Strong leadership, problem solving and planning skills
Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy, while working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
Valid driver's license
Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, or relevant field
Prior experience within the wireless infrastructure or industrial products arena
Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. The environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. The employee frequently is required to use hands while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about to the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
