Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the technical support of multiple production lines which manufacture precision optical assemblies. Working closely with production personnel, the Sr Manufacturing Engineer will dictate proper assembly procedures and oversee the documentation and training of these procedures with a primary focus on delivering quality products on time at an exceptional value to our customers.
You Will:
Support production departments using extensive knowledge of production principles and techniques.
Responsible for the efficient operation of manufacturing processes within the facility.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Generate detailed work instructions which define critical manufacturing steps in a way that can be clearly and consistently understood.
Strong trouble shooting skills to diagnose and correct production failures.
Procure or design fixtures which aid production or assembly of parts to increase repeatability, reduce scrap and reduce cycle time.
Train other employees as needed.
Identify critical parameters and statistically analyze production metrics in order to drive data-based decisions.
Summarize data and present to Management in a clear and concise manner.
Lead the planning and implementation of manufacturing projects and capital improvements.
Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of coworkers including machine operators, assemblers, technicians, engineers and managers.
Responsible for transition of manufacturing processes from engineering / proto@type stage to volume production.
Work with quality assurance to ensure specifications are met and documentation is in place prior to shipment of product.
Apply knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the optics manufacturing field.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience/Certifications/Degrees Required:
Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, industrial or mechanical engineering with 10+ years' experience.
Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in troubleshooting.
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) methods.
Proficient with 3D modeling methods and 3D printing. Solidworks preferred.
Proficient with MS Excel software is required. Filemaker Pro and Minitab a plus.
Extensive Lean manufacturing knowledge, six sigma black belt, or green belt certification a plus.
Experience working with customers.
Experience with ISO 9001 standards is preferred.
Experienced in ITAR regulations, specifications, and company compliance including, but not limited to, optics, mechanics, quality, verification, and testing is preferred.
Experience with Optical Assembly.

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts.
BS engineering degree from an ABET accredited college.
10 years' experience in Manufacturing environment.

The job may involve prolonged periods of sitting/standing.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May involve prolonged periods of magnified inspection (eye strain)
The employee is frequently required to use the computer.
Generally, works in a clean environment and works to maintain the environment as such.

This position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne paper particles.
May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the production process.
