You will work both independently and as part of a team. Join us! As a manufacturing engineer, you will research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy and improve cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll consult with program management, design engineers, quality, and production teams in order to develop the most efficient and cost effective means of producing our products at the highest level of quality possible. Your technical duties involve reviewing engineering designs for producibility and the development of tooling and fixtures, work instructions, production process and procedures. You will be involved in the application of manufacturing technologies and industry best practices during the design and development of new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and address tooling-related issues, implement root cause analysis, and develop solutions to improve production quality and efficiency.
Project Management: Experience in managing tooling projects, including feasibility studies, design, fabrication, and procurement.
Quality Control: Understanding of quality management systems like ISO9000 or AS9100 to ensure tooling meets stringent aerospace standards.
Materials Knowledge: Awareness of aircraft materials and their properties, crucial for making informed decisions regarding tooling for repairs and replacements.
CAD/CAM Proficiency: Ability to use software like CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks for designing, modeling, and modifying tooling for aircraft components and assemblies.
Engineering Drawing Interpretation: experiences in interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Understanding of Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of various manufacturing processes, such as machining, assembly techniques, and composite fabrication, essential for creating effective tooling solutions
Tooling Design and Modification: Experience in designing new tools and fixtures
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor's of Science degree in related engineering discipline and typically 0-2 years of relevant experience
Basic understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools
Conceptual knowledge of engineering principles and practices
Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary teams
The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
Qualifications We Prefer:
Familiarity in applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
Knowledge industry standard design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing and production processes
Familiarity with work instruction/traveler development
Experience with new product introduction and transition to production
