Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Galveston, Texas. This position offers a Contract-to-Permanent opportunity within the dynamic financial services industry. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining fiscal records, contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting department.

Responsibilities:

Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate transactions.

Perform bank reconciliations to verify account balances and resolve discrepancies.

Prepare and post journal entries to maintain the integrity of the general ledger.

Assist with month-end close procedures, ensuring all financial data is properly recorded and reconciled.

Maintain and update general ledger accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Provide support to the Controller by handling various accounting tasks as needed.

Review and analyze financial statements for accuracy and consistency.

Monitor and maintain fiscal records, ensuring proper documentation and organization.

Collaborate with team members to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the financial services sector.

Proficiency in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.

Strong knowledge of general ledger management and journal entries.

Experience with bank reconciliations and month-end close procedures.

Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
