The Applications Operations Manager leads the delivery, support, and operational excellence of mission-critical corporate applications, with a focus on legacy on-premise systems supporting enterprise financial operations. This role manages a cross-functional team including .NET application developers, application support professionals, and a database expert. Applying DevOps principles-automation, continuous improvement, and operational discipline-the manager ensures performance, security, scalability, and compliance across all supported applications.
This role serves as the primary escalation point for complex application issues and fosters strong collaboration across Development, QA, Infrastructure, Security, Endpoint, and Service Desk teams. The manager ensures systems are stable, compliant, and production-ready, driving improvements in deployment, monitoring, disaster recovery, and security posture while delivering reliable business services.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development Provide daily leadership, coaching, and technical direction. Develop and retain high-performing talent. Manage performance, compensation, and staffing plans aligned with business priorities.
Strategic & Operational Execution Define and communicate a clear team vision aligned with IT and business goals. Oversee the delivery and lifecycle of business-critical applications, ensuring availability, scalability, and audit readiness.
Application Reliability & Compliance Ensure applications meet SLAs for performance, availability, and functionality. Maintain compliance with SOX, NIST, and corporate cybersecurity frameworks, including secure coding practices and Penetration Testing remediation.
Operational Excellence & Process Discipline Monitor and optimize day-to-day application operations, including incident response, service requests, access provisioning, and environment stability. Lead root cause analysis and vendor coordination for critical issues.
Change, Release & Configuration Management Drive structured release management and enforce change control procedures. Ensure production readiness, rollback strategies, and minimal risk during deployments. Promote version control, configuration consistency, and automated deployment practices, even in legacy environments.
Automation & Continuous Improvement Implement scripting and automation to reduce manual effort and improve consistency. Champion DevOps practices and support operational excellence across deployment, monitoring, and recovery processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Infrastructure and Cybersecurity teams to manage patching, upgrades, and remediation activities. Coordinate with business stakeholders and executive leadership during major incidents and planned releases.
Application Inventory & Governance Maintain accurate inventories of applications and dependencies. Ensure system documentation is current, audit-ready, and supports regulatory and operational needs.
Customer Service & Stakeholder Engagement Serve as escalation point for unresolved issues impacting financial systems. Communicate proactively with stakeholders to ensure transparency and responsiveness.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred ; alternatively.
8+ years of experience in Information Technology , preferably within a manufacturing or industrial setting .
Experience leading IT projects in Agile and/or DevOps environments, including demonstrated success in .NET-based application delivery .
Strong understanding of ITIL practices and compliance frameworks (SOX, HIPAA).

Compensation Information:
The compensation package for the role offers a competitive base salary ranging from $135K - $165K annually. This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan.
