JOB TITLE: TYPIST CLERK III

RATE OF PAY: $16.37 per hour entry, progressing to $19.34 per hour after 2 years (TU06)

This is a full-time position with benefits as provided for within the U.S.W. full-time labor agreement, although union membership is voluntary.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs routine and semi-complex clerical tasks requiring understanding of departmental activities and exercise of good judgment. Activities are under general administrative supervision of the Public Health Nursing Services Manager. Helps clients by providing clinical and administrative assistance. Documents patient data in electronic records and assists in disseminating information to clients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Serves as primary clerical support to the Immunization Program. Using computer, sets appointments for clients who need services. Frequently interacts with clients, clinical nurse, supervisors, and other staff through written, telephonic, and face-to-face communications. Performs Immunization data entry of required participant information in electronic medical record to prepare medical records/billing record for participant's immunizations.

Notify participants of upcoming appointments and contacts families that do not keep appointments.

Maintains program statistics and records; @types correspondence; enters and retrieves data using a computer.

Updates enrollment, mailing, client service and case status records as needed.

Sends reports to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, as directed.

Manage vaccine inventory via data entry program and physical count; reconcile monthly. Orders and maintains supplies and materials necessary for clinics. Maintain vaccine temperature logs, keeping daily and weekly calibration records. Responsible for rotating stock, responding to temperature alarms, and if necessary, transporting vaccine to alternate refrigeration.

Processes invoices for vendor payment in MUNIS.

Conducts look-ups, searches, and verification from departmental records for interested public and other departments; uses the internet; prepares reports.

Responsible for program printing and mailing.

Serves as secretary at meetings, taking notes and preparing summary minutes.

Assumes duties of other clerical and technical staff in their absence or for other reasons.

In times of a public health emergency, may be required to report for specialized assigned duties inside or outside of Bay County. Perform emergency response roles, as required.

Punctual and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required High school diploma or GED Must have 12 months of closely related work experience. Reading comprehension skills sufficient to understand Federal/State guidelines and procedures for eligibility and utilization of programs by clients.
