The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team can provide you the opportunity to build and operate a suite of massive scale, integrated cloud services in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment.
The Applications Platform team aims to provide a rich set of services and tools to enable building and deploying Cloud Services as containerized workloads and manage the entire development and deployment lifecycle. Oracle's Container Engine for Kubernetes, Oracle Serverless and API Gateway are the flagship offerings from this organization. We are also building new services to provide an Oracle Managed Kubernetes, App Development Platform, Application Governance and compliance services. This role is within Pegasus team, which manages a platform for providing service templates, configuration artifacts and tools with built-in best practices to develop OCI services.

What does the position offer?
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, cloud native technologies, and highly available services looking to lead development of scalable, resilient, and secure infrastructure systems that underpin the core of OCI's compute platform.

You work on a team that owns the design, development, and operations for major components of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure in the Cloud Native space In the Applications Platform team you could be working on the Managed Kubernetes , Serverless and API Management offerings. You would have a chance to build new services from scratch and also scale and operate existing services.
You should be a distributed systems generalist, able to understand broad systems interactions, have excellent design skills while being very hands-on, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and lower level system interactions.
You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.
You would be working on components that include implementing emerging interfaces in the Kubernetes ecosystem and maintaining the Kubernetes Providers for OCI.

Qualifications
General Skills
8+ years of experience designing, delivering and operating large scale, highly available, distributed systems.
Excellent knowledge of Java, Object Oriented Fundamentals or experience with scripting languages such as Python.
Excellent knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems and distributed systems fundamentals.
Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
Exceptional troubleshooting skills and demonstrated ability to deliver quality code
Experience working on multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure a strong plus
Excellent analytical skills and willingness to look at alternate paths to a solution
Experience designing and driving technical solutions and mentoring engineers.
Strong leadership, collaboration and communication skills.
Specific Technology Exposure
A strong understanding of the architecture of commonly available IaaS solutions with active contributions to architectural enhancements and design.
A strong understanding of container technology like Docker and container orchestration technology like Kubernetes.
Cloud design patterns - familiarity with AWS, Azure, Google will be an advantage
Profile of desired experience and expectations
8+ years of experience as a Technical Lead / Software Developer
Master's degree in Computer Science
Prior experience with operating and building cloud services would be a big plus
Experience with Kubernetes architecture and with Kubernetes services from AWS, Azure, Google will be an advantage
Prior DevOps exposure is a plus
Willingness to perform DevOps and support on-call as well.
Should have a bias for action and should be willing to take ownership of a problem and solve it to completion.
Should be willing to take ownership of larger outcomes in design as well service operations

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $79,800 to $178,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
