Scope of Job
The selected applicant will teach multiple sections of laboratory, lecture and/or clinical practicum courses. Selected applicant will also serve on departmental committees, maintain appropriate office hours and fulfill all other responsibilities required of a faculty member at UTRGV . This position is a full-time, non-tenure track position, with a three-year appointment period. UTRGV faculty will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to scholarly work, student success, advancing the university, college, and program missions and are committed to UTRGV's strategic plan, vision, mission, values and core priorities. Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must hold a master's degree from an accredited university in CLS , MS in Education, orMSHS. Applicants must hold an appropriate nationally recognized ASCP certification as a medical laboratory scientist or medical technologist. Good communication skills and the ability to teach laboratory and lecture courses is required.
For consideration at theclinical associate level, the candidate must have held the rank of clinical assistant professor for at least 6 years prior.
For consideration at theclinical professor level, the candidate must hold a doctoral degree in anyMLS subject area and have documented evidence of federally funded research grants or publications within the last 10 years.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
Applicants must have at least 3 years of clinical and/or teaching experience which enables them to teach in at least two major areas of the curriculum. Applicant must hold a nationally recognizedASCP certification as a medical laboratory scientist or medical technologist.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in online course delivery and distance education. Knowledge of accreditation requirements, clinical experience and professionalism, mentoring and familiarity with multicultural environments.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position mayrequire presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
