Summary: Specialize in design and sale of bypass and dewatering pumping systems to all customers, but with a focus on international end-users/dealers/distributors, primarily the Central and South American pump markets. Provides consultation services for private consulting engineering firms and public engineering departments. Selects application-appropriate products and services from Thompson Pump product line, prepares quotations, and submittals from published price lists and product data sheets. Meet with existing and prospective clients to provide product and application expertise.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare competitive proposals, narrative specifications, and provide engineering expertise for Thompson Pump customers with a primary focus on the Central and South American markets.

Support Thompson Pump customers, including international customers, with product and applications training.

Promote and develop pre-engineered International sales by providing design consultation for consulting engineers and selecting products for dewatering, water and wastewater bypass, and other pre-engineered sales efforts.

Consistently maintain all relevant sales activity, and municipal contact information, within Thompson Pump's cloud-based CRM system (Customer Relationship Management- SalesForce.com)

Assist the TPM service department with application-related calculations and start-up report documentation for municipal customers.

Work directly with the TPM engineering department regarding various special projects that involve innovative design concepts for the International market via AutoCAD, Solid Works, or Python. All design concepts should align with the overall TPM product strategy.

Assist TPM Product Engineer with BOM analysis to increase accuracy of municipal products before and after build dates.

Forecast International project requirements, market trends, prepare budgets and schedules, and track all international sale opportunities.

Develop innovative concepts and explore opportunities to add value to contracted projects.

Attend pre-bids, conduct job walks, and submit public bids for various opportunities when needed.

Participate in installation and startup of permanently installed backup systems when needed.

Provide detailed dewatering and bypass pumping plans and quotations to various TPM clients.

Assist our sales force and customers with project-related questions over phone, email, video conferencing, or in person. Meet with engineers and other clients to discuss proposals and recommend alternatives.

Present various topics at Pumpology training courses for internal trainings and Engineering CEU credits.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering field; Hydrogeology, Civil, or Mechanical preferred.

Professional Engineer certification is preferred.

Basic understanding of pump applications and dewatering products.

Knowledge of pumping applications.

Knowledge of pump calculations and energy estimating.

Ability to read and understand pump performance graphs.

Ability to read and understand blueprints, engineering drawings and electrical schematics.

Experience with governmental agencies for permitting and plan approvals

Ability to handle and manage multiple projects

Ability to prepare narrative, reports, and effective communications for projects.

Ability to present and effectively communicate to target audiences.

CAD knowledge and experience.

Solid foundation in hydraulics.

Update job skills and knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

May be required to work overtime and on weekends.

Requires travel.

Assist Yard Crew by compiling equipment list for delivery.

Work in shop and/or field as needed.
