Job Description
The landmark Omni Shoreham Hotel is located in one of Washington D.C.'s premier residential neighborhoods. An icon among Washington, D.C. hotels, that has hosted presidents, world leaders, conventions, galas and inaugural balls since our inception in 1930.
The resort hotel of the Nation's Capital comprises a 13.5-acre campus, 4.5 acres of which are formal gardens and terraces. The hotel offers 836 guest rooms and suites, with over 100,000 square feet of indoor meeting and events space, including seven historic ballrooms. Additional amenities include the Marquee Lounge, Robert's restaurant, a sprawling outdoor pool with bar, and health club fitness center and spa.
As theDirector of Engineeringat theOmni Shorehamyou will be Responsible for ensuring proper training and supervision of all Engineering personnel and to provide consistent, cost-effective maintenance programs that ensure the property's safe and efficient operation. ($135,000 - $150,000 based on experience)
Responsibilities
Coordinate and operate, in an economic, legal and safe manner, all R&M & Utilityexpenses.
Managing Birchstreet for all R&M expenses, participate in all month-end financial processand forecasting.
Supervise a comprehensive maintenance and preventative maintenance program forpublic spaces, guestrooms and equipment. All work request and preventive maintenance tobe managed in Synergy.
Coordinate with other departments to maintain general conditions and adhere to safety,health standards and legal requirements set forth by hotel policy.
Recruit, interview, hire, train, and discipline engineering associates in coordination with theDirector of Associate Services.
Recommend capital budget projects, obtain bids, and oversee contractors for projectexecution. Manage special permits and licenses as required.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of work by external vendors and contractors.
Maintain own and resort's special permits and licenses as required by local, state andfederal authorities.
Control schedules, staffing, and payroll for the Engineering team. Maintain personnelrecords, utility logs, and engineering records.
Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries,and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications.
Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure clean uniform and professionalpersonal appearance; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protectcompany assets.
Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; identify, recommend, develop,and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality,safety, and/or cost-savings.
Responsible for scheduling and facilitating monthly department meetings.
Effectively coach and counsel associates as needed and complete performanceevaluations.
Attend all company required training.
Maintain and oversee the safe and efficient operation of steam boilers and all associated equipment in accordance with applicable codes and safety standards.
Monitor, maintain, and ensure proper operation of all laundry equipment, coordinating repairs and preventive maintenance as needed to minimize downtime.
Effectively collaborate with union labor, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and maintaining a positive working relationship.
Champion the Omni / Power of One / Power of Engagement culture.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years' hospitality Engineering experience required or in a similar field.
Certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing is preferred. CPO and EPA certifications arerequired. If currently do not possess, it will be required to obtain within 6 months ofemployment.
Expertise in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building management, and all life safetysystems pertinent to hotel operations.
Knowledgeable in safety use for: power tools, general engineering tools and equipment,pool pumps and filtration systems.
Knowledgeable in ADA requirements, power, water and sewer distribution, blueprints, firecodes and fire protection.
Demonstrate excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills. Must possesseffective teamwork and guest relations.
Demonstrates understanding and application of management approaches for workdirection, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action.
Ability to ensure administrative functions and duties are assigned and completed,according to Omni standards, including timekeeping, vendor contracts, and personnelaction forms.
Possess Relevant industry certifications and licenses as required by local authorities.
Physical Requirements:
Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects of moderate to heavy weight withoutassistance. Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
Responds quickly to sounds. Moves safely over uneven terrain. Identify and respond todangerous situations. Safely climb ladders while carrying moderate to heavy weight.Wear personal protective equipment when required.
Working Environment:
Exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.
Tools & Equipment:
Power tools and general engineering tools for HVAC, electrical and plumbing equipment.
