Summary This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, YARD, Industrial department, Electro Group in Baltimore, Maryland Responsibilities This position will serve as a Worker on a wide variety of marine craft and other projects at the YARD. The employee will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of components of a complete operational control system, as well as working on new systems, with some assignments on electronics. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Working on teams to install and put into operation major electronic and electrical control systems that are new to the fleet or that are major modifications of existing systems. Troubleshooting and repairing new systems during the operational tests and follow procedures to identify defects. Assisting on installs/testing/calibrating/aligning propulsion systems (diesel, diesel electric DC, turbo, and turbine), electronic governor controls and systems, variable pitch controls, AC/DC drive system controls, electrical switchboards and power generation plants, electronic controls and actuating systems, etc. Working on complete spaces or compartments, will be responsible for all layouts: foundation placements, stud runs and cable way installs, locations of all electrical and electronic gear per arrangement drawings, written instructions or verbal discussions. Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.
