Cost Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Cost Accountant to join our team in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In this role, you will play a vital part in managing and analyzing cost data to support decision-making and improve operational efficiency. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in manufacturing cost accounting and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities:

Develop and oversee cost accounting systems and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Analyze production costs and prepare regular reports comparing actual expenses to standard costs.

Monitor inventory transactions to maintain precise inventory valuation and reporting.

Conduct variance analysis for materials, labor, and overhead, providing actionable insights to management.

Collaborate with operational teams to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and drive efficiency.

Prepare cost estimates for both new and existing products to assist in strategic pricing decisions.

Support budgeting and forecasting processes by supplying relevant cost data and trends.

Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, focusing on cost accounting aspects.

Ensure compliance with internal policies and controls while maintaining adherence to industry standards.

Assist with audits by providing detailed, cost-related information to external auditors. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Minimum of 3 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing setting.

Proficient understanding of standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.

Experience with accounting software systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP platforms.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

Proven ability to meet tight reporting deadlines with exceptional accuracy.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
